These are super easy homemade tortilla chips. You can use flour or corn tortillas. Flour tortillas fry really fast and they tend to be drier when they are fried. They are perfect for dips because they don’t break too easily. Corn tortillas take a little longer to fry but they are really delicious and crispy. They are also good for dips but they are not as sturdy as the flour chips. Both are excellent and very easy to make at home. I use a deep fryer with vegetable shortening for crispy chips, but you can also fry them in a shallow pan. You can also use another oil that has a high smoke point, like canola or vegetable. If you use a deep fryer, just make sure to set the temperature to around 370 degrees.
You can use spices such as seasoned salt or chili powder to give them more flavor or you can add cinnamon and sugar for a sweet dessert chip.
Healthy tip:
Lay the chips on a paper towel after frying to absorb excess oil. Flip them over to absorb even more excess oil.
