Somewhere between McDonald’s and Burger King, there’s Wendy’s, the Temple of Doom of fast-food burger joints, if you will — I mean that in the best way possible. Wendy’s isn’t the worst place in the world to end up if you’re a vegan, because they have a decent, albeit small, selection of vegan options.
Vegan Options at Wendy’s
Sandwiches
Update: Wendy’s now has black bean burgers.
Sadly, you won’t find any veggie burgers at Wendy’s, but you can ask them to make you a “veggie sandwich,” which has everything their burgers have, just minus the beef. They’re actually pretty tasty.
Sides: Are Wendy’s Fries Vegan?
Are Wendy’s fries vegan? Wendy’s french fries are vegan, which is pretty awesome since a lot of places don’t have vegan fries. You can also get their baked potato, or a side salad with red italian dressing which are other vegan options at Wendy’s.
Salad Bar
Wendy’s used to have a salad bar that was pretty extensive, but they were phased out in 2006, I’m guessing for sanitary reasons. Thus the side salad is the only vegan salad option that remains.
Desserts
Wendy’s typically doesn’t carry any vegan desserts.
now they have the black bean burger!
Wendy’s fries are NOT vegan. Many believe they are, or they believe they are due to being potatoes? I just checked with both my local Wendy’s and they fry the chicken nuggets with french fries. I’ve always eaten a pretty clean vegan diet. Due to an emergency I was out, too tired to run in the grocery store and starving so fries sounded good! Sadly as a true vegan, Wendy’s fries do not suffice.
