Vegan Black Bean Bacon Burger

January 18, 2015 by ClientAdministrator 1 Comment

This black bean burger is awesome! This is the first bean burger recipe that has been a success for me, so I am happy to be sharing it with you today. Not only is it really delicious, but it is way healthier than a beef hamburger with fries.

Vegan Black Bean Bacon Burger

Ingredients

    For the Patty
  • 1 can rinsed black beans
  • 1 small finely chopped onion
  • 3-4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 1 Tbsp peanut butter
  • For the Toppings
  • Veggie bacon or tempeh bacon
  • Tomato, onion, lettuce, avocado
  • 1/2 Tbsp balsamic-dijon sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 450º.
  2. Dry beans after rinsing on a paper towel.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ingredients to make the patties. You can also do this in a food processor (I normally would do this but my food processor stopped working as I was shooting this video).
  4. Chill patties in fridge for 30-45 minutes (or 15 minutes in freezer if you don't have time). Now is a good time to prepare toppings and fries.
  5. Bake patties and bacon for 20-30 minutes (I baked the fries at the same time).
  6. Assemble burgers and devour them.

This beer from a local Texan brewery went great with our burgers and fries.
