This black bean burger is awesome! This is the first bean burger recipe that has been a success for me, so I am happy to be sharing it with you today. Not only is it really delicious, but it is way healthier than a beef hamburger with fries.
Vegan Black Bean Bacon Burger
Ingredients
For the Patty
- 1 can rinsed black beans
- 1 small finely chopped onion
- 3-4 cloves minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 Tbsp flour
- 1 Tbsp peanut butter
For the Toppings
- Veggie bacon or tempeh bacon
- Tomato, onion, lettuce, avocado
- 1/2 Tbsp balsamic-dijon sauce
Instructions
- Heat oven to 450º.
- Dry beans after rinsing on a paper towel.
- In a large bowl, combine ingredients to make the patties. You can also do this in a food processor (I normally would do this but my food processor stopped working as I was shooting this video).
- Chill patties in fridge for 30-45 minutes (or 15 minutes in freezer if you don't have time). Now is a good time to prepare toppings and fries.
- Bake patties and bacon for 20-30 minutes (I baked the fries at the same time).
- Assemble burgers and devour them.

This beer from a local Texan brewery went great with our burgers and fries.
