My first 4th of July as a vegan was a lot like being on one of those reality shows where you have to try to live on twigs and leaves for as long as possible. While the rest of the guests devoured a roasted pig, I filled up as much as I could on booze and condiments. While beer and relish isn’t the worst meal in the world, I would have felt a lot less awkward and enjoyed myself a lot more if I had come better prepared.
When I think of a typical 4th of July menu, I think of classic backyard-barbecue foods, such as burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and so on… This list of vegan 4th of July recipes covers all the bases so you can enjoy this 4th of July as much as any omnivore!
