Starbucks’ Secret Vegan “Pink Drink” Not So Secret Anymore

April 17, 2017 by Samuel Warde

Apparently, Starbucks has been making a secret vegan drink simply called the “pink drink” for quite some time now. Up until recently, it was something only small group of people knew about, but now the cat has been let out of the bag and vegans everywhere are lining up. I’m ashamed to admit, both Taryn and myself are former Starbucks employees and even we didn’t know about the “pink drink.” In all fairness, however, PETA wrote about it on their blog last year, and Starbucks posted it on their Instagram, but for whatever reason, it seems a lot of vegans – ourselves included – still weren’t hip to it until now.

On Wednesdays we drink pink. Swap water for coconut milk in your Strawberry Acai Starbucks Refreshers! #ProTip #PinkDrink #Refreshers #Regram: @perpetual_joy

So, what is the “pink drink” exactly? It’s a Strawberry Acai Refresher made with coconut milk instead of water – sounds pretty good – and if you want one, that’s how you should order it. If you roll up to the drive-thru and simply say, “I’d like the pink drink,” they’ll probably reply, “which one?”. And if you answer with, “the vegan one,” there’s a good chance the barista will be even more confused. That being said, so many vegans are requesting this drink now, maybe Starbucks will make it an official menu item. But in the mean time, you can probably spare yourself some hassle by being explicit in your request.

Did you know about the “pink drink”? Have you had one? How is it? Let us know in the comments!
