December 21, 2016 by Samuel Warde Leave a Comment

gingerbread hot chocolate recipe

This hot chocolate tastes like you’re drinking a chocolate-covered gingerbread man. Making gingerbread men cookies is quite a bit more complicated, though – it takes a lot of ingredients and preparation, and you need special equipment. But fortunately, making this gingerbread-spiced hot chocolate only takes a pot, a stove top, and a few simple ingredients. You might already have everything you need in your pantry. Let us know what you think of it in the comments. Happy holidays!

Gingerbread-Spiced Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate cooked on the stove top, spiced with ginger, cinnamon, toasted cloves, nutmeg, and allspice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup cashew milk or milk of choice
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp toasted cloves or ground cloves
  • 2 drops vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Bring water and coconut oil to a boil. Add cocoa powder, syrup, and toasted cloves. Let simmer on medium heat, stirring frequently, until a few oz of the liquid has evaporated to form a thin chocolate syrup. This should take about 5 to 10 min.
  2. Add remaining ingredients, cover with a lid, and let simmer for another 5 to 10 min.
