The other night, I was working on a recipe that included grapefruit. Later that evening, while I was sipping on an IPA, I noticed a leftover wedge of grapefruit on the counter. I thought, “I bet that would taste good in this beer.” Sure enough, it did, and thus this recipe was born.
Beyond simply mixing grapefruit with IPA, I also decided to add some fresh squeezed orange juice and lime juice. I figured, why not go for the citrus trifecta?
Some of the people who tried it complained it was not sweet enough for their taste buds. Granted, these people are not beer drinkers. I added some sugar to theirs to sweeten it up, and then they all loved. Taryn and I both think it’s great without sugar. I hope you give this recipe a try and let us know what you think down in the comments below. Enjoy!
Fresh squeezed citrus juice and cold IPA blended together in perfect harmony. A great refreshing drink to enjoy on a hot summer's day.
Ingredients
- 1 grapefruit
- 1 Florida orange
- 1 lime
- IPA of choice
- Sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Squeeze grapefruit, orange, and lime juice into a tall glass.
- Pour through a strainer into a pitcher.
- Fill pitcher the rest of the way with cold beer. Garnish rim with wedge of grapefruit and serve with a slice of orange. Sweeten to taste.
Notes
I like this recipe without sugar, but if you don't like sour, bitter drinks, then you'll probably want to sweeten it.
